How to Make Cremation Diamonds

The technology to create laboratory grown cremation diamonds, has been around for about 70 years; over time it has been improved and refined. These lab grown memorial diamonds are physically, chemically and optically identical to earth-mined diamonds. The only difference is that cremation diamonds forever contain the personal carbon of a loved one or pet.

Step 1 – The creation of a personal cremation diamondbegins by collecting a small sample, approximately 6 ounces, of cremated remains.

Step 2 - The carbon signature from the ashes is then added to a real diamond seed, and the mixture is placed in a custom-designed incubator.

Step 3 – The incubator uses a unique and complex High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) process to duplicate the earth’s natural diamond-growing conditions. Temperatures exceed 2000°C and pressure is greater than 60,000 atmospheres. This replicates, in a matter of weeks, a process that takes hundreds of thousands of years below the earth’s crust.

Step 4 – After the growth phase is completed, a genuine diamond “in the rough” results. It is chemically, physically and optically identical to a natural, earth-mined diamond. Born molecularly, with the unique DNA carbon signature from a loved one, the cremation diamond is a one-of-a-kind laboratory grown diamond and the most personal diamond in the world.

Step 5 – A master gem cutter will cut and polish the diamond in accordance with the highest industry standards.

Step 6 – The cremation diamond be individually identified with a laser-engraved ID number on the girdle of the diamond which is visible only under x20 magnification.

Step 7 – The diamond is then independently authenticated, inspected, measured and graded by the Gemological Institute of America.

Step 8 – The cremation diamond is placed in a luxurious gift box. Included with the diamond is the original GIA Certification, a Certificate of Authenticity and additional documentation. The package is shipped via certified mail. All shipments are fully insured.

Things you should know:

· This is a scientific process which utilizes expensive machinery necessary to convert ashes to diamonds. This is not a do-it-yourself type project. You will want an expert diamond creator, like DNA2Diamonds to do it for you.

· This process takes 70 days or less and depending on the carat size and color of the diamond, to make a DNA2Diamond it will cost approximately $2,000 to $17,000.

· Personal carbon can also be extracted from a lock of hair and this process can be performed with human or animal cremated remains or hair.
